Hyrax (Tree)Being about the size of a Rock Hyrax, the Tree Hyrax has a larger head and a gray-brown to pale gray coat with lighter under parts and dorsal spot. It is one of the dominant herbivores in lowland and mountain forests, feeding mainly on foliage, fruits and twigs. As it is usually solitary and nocturnal, but eventually living in pairs or families, a tree with a hole to sleep forms the center of its small home range. The males call starting with cracking sounds, followed by expiring screams.
