Mongoose (Egyptian)

Mongoose (Egyptian) image. This is the largest african mongoose, with a speckled gray and brown to dark red-brown coat and darker legs and head.; the snout and tail are teased black. Being diurnal, it favours dense undergrowth bordering water, never venturing far from a hole to hide. Insects and small vertebrates form its mainstay. The african mongoose are solitary, but european and Middle Eastern populations build social groups.
