Python image. The Python is Africa's largest snake, reaching 4.5 meters. This snake coils itself into an accordion-like pose and then launches itself at its prey, biting and then wrapping around it to squeeze and suffocate. Pythons will hunt anything smaller than themselves, including gazelles, small crocodiles, fish, and even baboons. Preferring dense bush or water to hunt from, they can sometimes be seen in open areas or crossing roads.
