Roan Antelope

Roan Antelope image. A tall, large antelope with a striking black and white face mask, long, tufted ears, a dark, terminal tuft on the tail and a pale gray to rufous coat. The males are more robust with bigger horns and blacker masks. They live in wooded or open savanna with tall grass and floodplains, selectively grazing on perennial grass, but also browsing to some extent. During the dry season they need water. Roan Antelopes form small to medium herds of females and young, including the territories of several territorial bulls. It is the second largest antelope of Serengeti N.P., but only to be found in the South.
