Serval image. A long-legged, slender, spotted cat with big ears for locating prey. it is the tallest of the small African cats, being tawny to russet, with bars on the upper parts, spots on the sides and a short, banded, black-tipped tail. Marshland and grassy terrain form its natural habitat where it keeps exclusive core territories within larger home ranges shared with other females, but controlled by only one adult male. The Serval is specialized in rodents and grassland birds, but may take prey up to flamingos and young antelopes. It is more day-active than most cats, but may also forage by night.
