Warthog image. This level-backed, nearly hairless pig has a large, flattened head, gray skin and a dark mane of long, coarse hair. The males wear prominent tusks and facial warts. They frequent savanna habitats, drinking, and on hot days wallowing, daily. In dry season grazing, in wet season digging for tubers and rhizomes, often kneeing, they are diurnal and rest in burrows at night. The sows form clans with their up to two years old offspring; males remain in their natal home range, but associate into groups.
